Parent Involvement

The PTO works in cooperation with the Hershey Elementary School administration and faculty to enhance our learning community. 

PTO Information

To keep the lines of communication open between the elementary school and the community, the school has formed a Building Advisory Team (BAT), which serves in an advisory capacity to the building administrator. BAT meetings are held monthly - usually on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. They are open to any interested parent.

All BAT Meetings will be held in Elementary Room 6; Time: 9:00 - 9:30 am  

The council is comprised of parents and educators working in partnership to promote equal opportunities for educational excellence and social, emotion and physical well being for students with special needs.

Center for Effective Parenting

Center for Effective Parenting provides handouts that have been written for parents on a variety of topics.  They are divided into three main groups: Early Childhood, School-aged Children and Parental Involvement in Education.

Children Now

Children Now provides information on talking to children about issues such as sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, race, HIV, what they see on TV, disasters, divorce, and terrorism.

Healthy Children

Healthy Children is sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics for parents. It provides information on topics including child development, health, safety, and family issues.

Kid Source

Kid Source is divided into categories (newborns, toddlers, preschoolers, K-12 and other categories), this site offers a variety of articles, products, and services related to each specific age category.  It is focused primarily on health and education issues.

Parenting 24/7

Parenting 24/7 is a University of Illinois website developed to be a “one-stop” source of news, information, and advice on parenting. The website provides recent news articles related to parenting and children, feature articles written for parents on a wide variety of topics, as well as a large number of video clips of parents and professionals discussing parenting challenges and strategies.

The National Parenting Center

The National Parent Center authorities (doctors, psychologists, and parenting experts/authors) offer advice for parents. The articles are based on age-specific groups, which offer a variety of advice for children in each stage of development.
